A breath-taking home that epitomises understated luxury, RZ Interiors’ latest scheme for a 4,400 sqft family residence in North York is a seamless blend of practical solutions and beautiful design.

The heart of the home, the open plan kitchen/dining room has a cohesive aesthetic. From the soothing neutral colour palette, where chic taupe blends elegantly with classic cream and a contrasting dark wood flooring, to the eye-catching feature light above the island, every detail runs seamlessly into the next. Kitchen appliances are concealed behind the bespoke cabinetry for a truly contemporary finish, and beyond the kitchen, a compact yet sleek home bar is a welcome addition to this extensive property.

Moving to the hallway, the main staircase has distinctive architectural flair, its clean, angular lines adding drama to the overall design. Lighting has been carefully considered throughout the home, with delicate wall lights in the living room, feature lights in the main rooms and in the aforementioned hallway, natural light floods every corner thanks to the glass ceiling above.

Upstairs, the master bathroom suite has been cleverly designed to promote a serene, light-filled environment. The client wanted a clean and classic bathroom that most importantly glorified the view into their extensive garden with outdoor swimming pool, and the end result is a bathroom akin to that of a seven-star hotel suite. From the bespoke-floor to-ceiling quartz cladded shower wall to the central 8’ long vanity unit, each piece was custom made to ensure a cohesive, clean and luxurious aesthetic. Underpinned by a soft colour palette with Calypso quartz accents, including an LED backlit vanity mirror with quartz surround, an impactful focal point of the bathroom is the aforementioned vanity unit – the designers chose a ‘floating’ unit to give the illusion of added space, whilst a dark wood for the cabinetry offsets beautifully against the iridescent quartz countertop and backlit mirror for a truly dramatic finish.

The smaller bathrooms are equally tasteful – glass and mirrors are finished with a matte black framing, complementing the matte black taps and shower system. By contrast, the super-stylish cabinetry has neutral white and light taupe tones that bring a sense of calm to the overall look and feel.

Elsewhere, the walk-in closet in the master bedroom has a masculine feel, with perfectly positioned spotlights illuminating the dark wood cabinetry and flooring. This area is not only filled with capacious storage, but the mirrors add to the sense of space, ensuring the room is a tranquil oasis for the client as well as a place to store their clothing.
